Welcome “Pirate” the Rocket Cat!
Pirate is a 7 year old cat needing a new home… She came to me very sick actually she was almost dead of flea anemia and weighed less that one pound. She at that point could fit in the palm of my hand. I raised several thousand dollars to remove her imploded eye and hence she truly earned the name Pirate. She is ok the dogs as long as they don’t chase her. My gut feeling tells me that she should either be in a place with no dogs or a lazy old and or disinterested dog that can coexist with her but not make her life hell. Pirate likes outdoor access but not for long periods of time. She actually will go to the toilet outside if she is given access however seldom strays from her own yard and is not happy if locked out. She is litterbox trained as long as box is not a total disaster (most cats I have encountered are this way)I am not looking for a home for Pirate because she has any behavioral issues. My dog and her do not have a good dynamic. He has high prey drive and she runs. I would rather not tempt the fates and would like to avoid injury to her both emotionally and physically. I know this is the most logical, level headed and safest thing I can do for her. She is very affectionate and actually would prefer a lap most of the time. She also is gentle and will play with interactive toys and sometimes balls of foil or bottle caps. She has been known to be a good mouser as well.
She has lived another cat but I think she would be better as the only feline in the house. I have always fed her raw and or grain free kibble. Pirate would make a great companion for anyone in my opinion who is willing to share the foot of the bed and or a belly rub etc. She is one of the easiest creatures I have had the pleasure of knowing. This decision is not easy but necessary for the quality of life I know she deserves.
