Large (60 – 100 lbs) Learn MoreRaven has not let her beauty get to her head-she is a very affectionate and people-oriented dog who loves to snuggle. There is never a time Raven would not rather have you petting her, preferably with both hands.
Raven can be shy when first meeting people, but she quickly warms up.
Raven’s signature move is sitting up, locking eyes, and then extending a dainty paw for you to hold. This typically leads to her somehow ending up as a surprisingly comfortable lap-dog, wriggling under an arm, or just leaning against you and staring up lovingly. Raven’s adoring nature is very good for your self-confidence!
This (we believe) Kelpie mix (55 pounds, age 2 years old) is very smart. Her big brain requires lots of stimulation, such as affectionate snuggling, training, and exercise every day. Raven is an eager and fast student-and quick to pick up new tricks. She is very athletic (enviable core strength!) and will make a great companion on long walks, jogs, and hikes.
Raven craves consistency and clear expectations about where she should be and what she should be doing. She needs a home that can provide her with clear rules and consistent expectations, from all members of the family, for her to be happiest.
Raven is very people-oriented, and could probably do just fine as the only dog in her home. However, another dog might help her slight shyness diminish over time, though she does not need to be an only dog. She has expressed some mild leash-reactivity when other dogs have been intrusive, however our belief is that this can be remedied with some straight-forward training.
Because Raven is quite docile and easily trainable, we think she could be a good dog for a first-time dog owner if they are eager to learn training techniques and give Raven the attention and exercise she needs. She could also make a wonderful pet for someone with lots of shepherd breed experience who has aspirations of agility training and more! She might even have the potential to become a therapy dog at a senior center or SFO, with an experienced handler and proper training.
If you are looking for an adoring companion who loves nothing more than being right by your side on any adventure, we have good news: Raven’s great at being both big and little spoon.
