Medium (25 – 60 lbs) Learn MoreSage is a Husky and Australian shepherd mix who is so pretty he can stop traffic. He’s ~60 lbs, and has ample soft white, black, and champagne colorings. His thick black eye-liner makes his blue eyes pop-out.
Don’t be alarmed that his good looks are intimidating — the tip of Sage’s tongue is often peeking out, giving him a goofy relaxed look.
He is 1.5 years old, and is a very active dog. Multiple brisk walks a day are needed to exercise his body, and plenty of enrichment activities and a decompression walks to stimulate his mind.
Sage is gregarious and loves meeting other dogs! He has shown himself to be socially savvy, and has made friends with dogs young, old, and even some who were at first intimidated by his size (he lied down to be at their level).
Even though Sage loves playing with other dogs, he should be the only dog in the home and needs a home with no children under 12 years old because he has demonstrated some resource guarding. Sage has the body of an adult but the mind of a puppy. He still has some puppy tendencies, like jumping and mouthing when he gets excited or frustrated so he needs a lot of redirection to alternative behaviours.Sage would do best in a quiet(ish) home — a neighborhood street rather than a loud intersection with lots of car horns and traffic. Loud busy urban life noises make him anxious.
Sage has been through a lot of changes in the past 6 months which has been stressful. He is currently on medication to help ease his anxiety and has been working with a positive reinforcement trainer and a veterinary behaviorist while in his foster home. We are looking for an adopter that will commit to continuing this training with the help of a licensed professional positive reinforcement dog trainer and his vet behaviorist.Sage will need time to fully relax and decompress in a new home. A very consistent and predictable schedule will be essential for Sage’s wellbeing as he makes what we hope will be his last adjustment into a forever home. Even though Sage will need LOTS of patience while he settles into his new home, this beautiful boy has a winning personality and unlimited potential. He is not going to be a super easy pup at first but once he is comfortable with someone he is super loveable, cuddly, goofy and relaxed.

Sage will be placed only in a household that has breed experience or is willing to do the research and understand the needs of a typical Husky, and where he would not join a household with small children (under 12), small animals or another dog.
If interested, please make sure to write about your experience with huskies or breed research notes when submitting an adoption application and a volunteer will respond to you shortly. (OA)
