Shiloh came to us by way of the San Jose shelter when he was surrendered by his owner who could no longer care for him. He is a 7 year-old Alaskan Malamute, weighing in at 105 lbs. At the time of his surrender, Shiloh required some medical care before he could find a forever home so that’s when Rocket Dog stepped in to help. Shiloh is now healthy, living in foster, and ready for his forever home!
In Shiloh’s previous life, he spent most of his time in a yard without much social contact. This made him apprehensive around strangers. However, he now stays with a foster who has lots of activity with other dogs and people and Shiloh is enjoying having the company. He is a sweet and affectionate dog. He loves to go out for walks to smell around and greet people. He is very easy on leash.
He would do wonderfully in a relaxed home with a yard. He really enjoys being outdoors and is happy to hang out with another dog of his same energy level. (He has not been tested with cats.)
We would not recommend him for a home with young children. He loves people, but needs them to recognize when he needs his space.
He would enjoy a home where someone is around just to hang out with him, but he is also fine when left alone. He does not exhibit signs of separation anxiety.
Shiloh is also looking for a temporary foster!
If you think Shiloh could be the companion you’ve been looking for, or if you are interested in providing a forever home to an older, slower boy who just needs some love, please fill out an application and a volunteer will contact you. (MM)
