Medium (25 – 60 lbs) Learn MoreHi! My name is Watson. I’m ~ 2 years young and love spending time with my humans. I don’t remember my mom and dad but we think they were probably Catahoula and Pittie. Whatever they were, they made gorgeous puppies, if I do say so myself! I mean, do you see my piercing blue eyes?!
I was in foster for a couple of weeks decompressing from my time at the Oakland Animal Shelter. There we learned that I’m (mostly) housetrained, although I do have the occasional accident here and there, but try my best to only use the restroom outdoors. I like waking up early in the morning to go on walks or hikes so that I can spend the rest of the day sleeping (I can be a pretty loud snorer) or hanging out with my foster family.
Speaking of family, I do whine a bit when a member of the family leaves the house. I’m not destructive though and after a few minutes of panic, I’ll just go curl up on a bed and go to sleep, because all I want to do is give kisses and be close to people (literally!). I’m just a giant love bug who doesn’t realize how big I actually am (I’m sure I can fit in anyone’s lap).
I’m not food protective, although I am food-motivated. I know basic commands like sit, stay, and come. When I’m playing fetch and in “the zone”, I can get a little mouthy and have accidentally nipped my foster family once or twice. I immediately let go though and am apologetic once I do realize I’ve mouthed them on accident.
Overall, I’m a really easy guy who just wants a family to love. (Kids 8+, please). Overall I just want to be close with my people.
I am currently in the care of the Rocket Dog team, where we are working on my excitability when I see other dogs. The team believes that if I can learn to self-regulate, I can successfully be introduced to dogs and play nicely. They want to help me get there and I appreciate their help!
The team is willing to work with a foster or adopter who is up for helping us out!
With many licks,
Watson
