Rocket Dog is honored and excited to be featured in “Dog Nation.”
The dog being evaluated at Oakland Animal Services is a gorgeous mixed breed with a multicolored coat and startling eyes — one brown and one blue. She is also bone-thin and given to self-harm, unable to get used to the cacophony of the shelter and no doubt lonely for the family who surrendered her.
Ebony Blue, or Mimi, as they call her at the shelter, is not the dog that Mexico-born Cesar Millan, the Dog Whisperer, famous for his ability to train and communicate with canines, and his 22-year-old son, Andre, have to come to work with. But the shelter’s Martha Cline wants them to meet her. If her behavior can’t be corrected, lovely Mimi will have to be euthanized.
The Millans were in town last year filming an episode for a forthcoming new series for the National Geographic Channel called “Dog Nation.” And with a title like that, where else should they go but the Bay Area?
