Emmy Lou Harris & Pali Boucher TEAM UP!
According to the Humane Society of the United States, four million cats and dogs are put down in U.S. shelters every year. That’s one dog or cat every eight seconds. With statistics like these, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed and bury one’s head in the sand. However, 12-time Grammy Award-winning singer Emmylou Harris and San Francisco dog savior Pali Boucher are two women who have instead chosen to bury their faces in the fur of their dogs. Dumpling’s Road to Recovery:
Dumpling came to Rocket Dog Rescue, as a 3 month old puppy from San Francisco Animal Care & Control. Dumpling was an innocent, scared, sweet little puppy in a lot of pain. He had a very severe case of Demodex Mange. It was one of the worst cases that the shelter had ever seen. Sadly, his owner left his condition untreated since he was just days old, which resulted in it getting much worst. Rocket Dog knew this poor puppy deserved a chance, and that just because he had a skin infection, did not mean he deserved to die. Demodex is a treatable and non contagious mite. Well, Dumpling sure made his recovery & has since been adopted to an amazing home. . . A HUGE Thank you to his amazing foster mom Linda Kilmartin for fostering Dumpling & making this wonderful blog on his long road to recovery.

Save a life, foster a dog!
When people tell them, “I couldn’t foster because it would be too hard to give the dog up.” They say, “How can it be harder than knowing a dog died because no foster home stepped up?” And that is why they do it time and again..
