Austin is doing GREAT. Just over a month with us now, he has turned into a splendid boy with a lot of personality, and has gained so much confidence. Just yesterday, he walked into Home Depot and Pet Club with me without clamping down in front of the door, and followed me from aisle to aisle without hesitating.
When I take him to the off-leash park, people always comment on what a beautiful dog he is. He has a bounce in his gait that is so joyous! I told many people on the trail about the “scare” we had the night before he arrived in San Francisco, and they are all happy that Austin is with us now. I sometimes drop by Paws on Piedmont – and they are aware of you there (they said Rocket Dog Rescue is great!), and even they noticed the big change. The first time I went, Austin wouldn’t go in. Now he just saunters in and even sits for his treats!
He is completely housetrained, goes up and down stairs, in and out of most stores (that allow pets), and in and out of the car with no hesitation now. He still gets a little freaked out when a large bus or truck passes by when we’re on the walk in the neighborhood, but he has come a long way.
When he first came, he also rarely ate. Now I can get him to eat 95% of the time! He is now up to 55 pounds, from 42 pounds when he came to us. Anyway, thanks for choosing to let us be Austin’s guardian. He will bring many, many years of joy to this household, and he will be loved always.
Best,
Brian
